Marvel Minimates Series 62 Brings new Cap and Red Skull minimates!

I’m always excited when I see a new minimates set come out, and series 62 of the long-running line brings us some match-ups based on the recent AXIS storyline. I don’t know much about the story, something about good guys being bad and bad guys being good or some such nonsense, but I do know that one of the 2 packs in the line-up includes ALL NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA vs. RED ONSLAUGHT!

By now you all know how much I love the Falcon, so I for one am crazy psyched to be getting a version of Sam in his new Cap duds. It’s a great design and I was wondering who would be the first toy company to jump on it. As for the Skull…er, Onslaught, if I understand correctly this is a version of Herr Shmidt after he has part of Professor X’s brain surgically implanted into his own cranium, giving him psychic powers. I haven’t read AXIS, or really anything leading up to it, so I can’t comment on the concept, but man does that Skull look sinister! And thanks to information gathered from Luke’s Toy Store it seems that there will be a “black suit” Red Skull outfit underneath all that armor! Looks like I’ll have to pick up two packs just to display both options!

Is this the “black suit” we can be expecting under that armor?

The rest of the line-up includes rather un-Cap characters, like Sabertooth, evil Hulk) and a new “Superior” Iron Man, so I won’t get into that, but I will say that the Apocalypse in this line looks badass! These guys should be hitting comic shops and interwebs retailers around June.

Hot Toys MMS Avengers: AoU Captain America update!

Yesterday I posted about the new (and extremely cool) Hot Toys Captain America figure based on his appearance in the new Avengers movie, but now Sideshow Toys and have some new info on the figure. It retails for $224.99 on their websites and has an expected release date between SEPTEMBER and NOVEMBER of 2015! Yikes! Glad I’m a patient man.

There doesn’t seem to be a Sideshow exclusive version of this guy, or at least not yet, so I pre-ordered mine already. If one happens to pop up in the near future no one seems to have their standard non-refundable deposit on this one so it isn’t much of a risk if you need to cancel. If you are interested in grabbing this guy grab him from either BBTS or Sideshow now!

Hot Toys MMS281 Avengers: Age of Ultron CAPTAIN AMERICA 1/6th scale figure revealed!

Hot Toys has long-produced some of my favorite action figures, so I get extra excited whenever they announce a new Captain America figure. This time the offering is Cap as he appears in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie, and personally it’s one of the best looks the character has had throughout the films. As usual (with the exception of a few misses) the sculpt is down-right creepy in its accuracy- I really don’t know if that’s a toy or Chris Evans staring at me. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep with him in my house, but I’m sure going to try!

Sideshow Toys hasn’t listed the figure for pre-order yet, but I can only assume it’ll end up in the $240 range, based on other recent Hot Toys releases. Check out the specs and the AMAZING pictures below!

NECA Planet of the Apes Custom Repaints

So far I love what NECA toys has been doing with the Planet of the Apes licence, and I sure hope there is no end in sight. There’s a billion-and-a-half characters that I hope they get around to making, which means it may be a good long while before we get some serious repaints; something NECA has been known to do. So instead of waiting around for them to get to what I want, I just went right ahead and made my own.  So without further ado…

TV Series Gorillas

Mego-style Soldier Ape

Dr. Zaius (great sculpt, terrible paint. He was in serious need of a repaint)

I’m planning a lot more apes in the future, so stay tuned for more!
