Early this morning a video popped up online showing what appears to be a stunt double for Chris Evans wearing the Captain America uniform on set in Seoul, South Korea for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron! It’s not the best quality, but this video gives us our first look at Steve’s new uniform! Check out the screencaps!
The video shows Cap standing on the back of a truck driving down a busy highway. Not much in the way of spoilers, unless you weren’t aware that Cap does actiony things. At one point he runs to the end and begins to hang down the back of the trailer, which is labeled “U-GIN Genetics Infinite R&D”. Obviously with no context to put it in this name means nothing, though I’m sure once more gets revealed about the movie we’ll certainly understand its significance.
Now on to the meat and potatoes of this post- the new Cap uniform! Luckily it seems they’ve decided to keep the helmet, opting for this look over the one from the first Avengers movie. Yeah, I know, the cowl in more comic-accurate, but I just really didn’t like the way it looked. Also it looks like we’re keeping the dark blue from his S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform, but with the added red, especially since they’ve incorporated the classic striped abs into this new look. We also see the fingerless gloves get carried over from that “Winter Soldier” design as well. New things to note are the addition of elbow pads, knee pads, and and interesting new shoulder pad design.
So what do you guys think? Like the new look? Hate it? Indifferent towards it? Personally I’m not a big fan of changing a character’s design this much from film to film, preferring them to keep the same basic uniform with minor adjustments here and there (CA:TFA to his “Golden Age” look in TWS, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man costume). We’ll just have to wait until we get more clear pictures of the uniform before I can really weigh in.
